Are They Not Taught in School?

I was at the IRD Jalan Duta on Wednesday morning (9/7) to submit the monthly PCB. Since today is the 2nd last day for submission, there was a larger crowd. There is a ticket/queue machine at the entrance in Level 1, where we have to take our Q ticket before proceeding to the counters. You just pressed A for PCB with diskette , B for blah blah, C for blah blah and so on.

Was queing up with 3-4 persons behind me for my turn to press for a ticket..when my turn arrived. tiba tiba this young Malay guy just walked in front of me and wanted to press the machine.. my blood was boiling oledi b'cos, first i had to wait 30 minutes under the hot sun for a legal parking bay , and now this guy pandai pandai want to cut Q ...wah wah wah..no manners betul. I oledi bengang and refused to let him bypass me..so I pressed the button b4 he cud do it, and turn around, asking him - Mana you punya q.. kawan?

And he sheepishly walked to the back of the lane. Dun the younger generation have any manners at all, want to cut Q in front of a makcik..

if you all are lucky

Belly Dancing

Kim has suggested that we start a belly dancing class to train our body to be more "pliable". So far, 4 person have given their firm nod including myself. We are getting a group of at least 6 pax to start the class. Proposed session date is on every Friday evening.

In fact, some of the basic movements in belly dancing such as belly roll, hip bumps, shimmy shimmy are kind of movements which are commonly used in our line dancing. It is a very good tummy trimming exercise and it helps us to refocus on the correct breathing technique. Reason being that we women tend to breathe using the muscle at the chest than the muscle at the torso. Belly dancing thought us how to differentiate one part of our body then another and eventually we learn to control our muscles more consciously.

I believe once we have mastered the belly dancing skills, our future line dance movement will become more sensual and graceful looking (a better way to describe it as sexy and seducing). For example we can apply the belly roll for our "Made in India" dance or those dances require shimmy shimmy and hip bumps.

Sad to say that I have observed a number of people who do/instruct belly dancing do not eventually gets slimmer like the aerobic instructors. Perhaps belly dancing only does more towards toning than the fat burning. Unless the dance movements are vigorous, the fat burning effect is not as effective as aerobics. So do not expect this dance alone will give a quick result in weight loss. Don't be despair, I haven't given the conclusion yet. However, when belly dancing is coupled with high impact cardio from line dancing like what we usually do 3 times a week, we will be able to shed the kgs more effectively and stay lean for live. So no matter how much durian or makan-makan sessions we organise, we will not be afraid to put on weight so long as the output (fat-burned) is more than input (calories intake).

It is worth noting that many belly dancers are rather fleshy. Don't know why. Probably it because you need to have a little fat to do the shimmy shimmy to give the vibrating effect...Well, so if I am convinced to do it, how about you?

p/s: I have previously uploaded some basic belly dancing from Youtube but the file is too big to post. You may view from this url:

The magic of line dancing

The magic of line dancing does not only lies on a person who is born talented or not but on the spirit of team work, hardworking through rehearsal and determination.

I have always advise my children that nothing is impossible, for example, previously the moon is untouchable but now human have already landed on the moon. Its through team work, hardworking and the spirit of great determination and at the end, human have successfully make it to the moon.

Line dancing is not the moon, it is much easier to learn as we have all the correct steps and counting taught by a good instructor.

Look at my dear husband Lam, he does not know how to dance at all and have promised me that one day he will dance with me on the dancing floor. Before line dance, every Saturday and Sunday all he do is sleeping! After the first session of line dancing, he have started to research the steps everyday and also have downloaded a lot of important point on line dance. He now have gone extreme in the line dance passion, requesting everyone to follow his passion through Jam Dancing on every Saturday night.

All that I can advise to a new student is "DONT GIVE UP"! BELIEVE IN YOURSELF and our Team! IF LAM, KIM, LIM AND MYSELF CAN DO IT, SO DOES YOU, YOU CAN DO IT! YOU CAN DO IT! YOU CAN DO IT!
