ENCOUNTER WITH GOVT CLINIC

Today, I was forced to visit the Govt. Clinic at Sg Buloh as my credit claims on the company medication claims have been fully utilised. I never liked to go to the govt.clinic as I know that we have to wait very very long.

I reached the Clinic around 10.05am and there are hundreds of people waiting their numbers to be called. I got this 1198 numbers and the last number being called was only 0099.

I was surprised and disappointed there are only two counters open for registration for hundreds of people.

I was so tired and sleepy because I have a very bad dry cough the whole night and cant able to sleep. I was also observing other people there, how can the clinic allowed sick people(old and young) to wait so long for their numbers to be called. The counter seems immune to the existing situation, and do not care that the people there keep accumulating.

Well, after 3 hours I was called and was given a number to the doctor's room. Just after 3person, I was called by the doctor. The doctor done the check-up on me really very fast, he just asked me what wrong and he just listen to my breathing only... no blood pleasure and no temperature measurement. Even tho, I told him I have fever that night.

What happen last time on the long Queue, still happens now. There are no improvement at all!

I hope the Govt to be more caring and give a good service for the sick people.

Great Year Ahead

It has been a great year,

but an even better one is ahead,

because the new year can be anything we want it to be.

So as we bid farewell to the old year and welcome in the new,

let's dare to dream of all we can accomplish with a little hard work and dedication.

Let's pray for peace in the world and try our best to love each other a little more and judge each other a little less.

Let's make a resolution to be more forgiving and less angry.

Let's focus on our goals and try to be the best we can be.

And let's never lose faith in what we can accomplish.

Happy New Year!

May the New Year bring you and yours much happiness and success.

HARD BOILED EGGS

Dear, Friends, Annie have send me an email on a new method of making a hard boiled eggs and I have tried it ! It works!

1) Place two pieces of tissue paper inside the rice cooker and sprinkle them with water.

2) Put in the eggs.

3) Close the lid and press "Cook" button.
4) Wait till the button jumps up. When it does, TURN OFF THE ELECTRICITY POWER. Do not leave them too long inside the rice cooker after cooked ...only do so if you prefer a harder egg yolk.
5) The eggs are ready.

The speed is faster than using ordinary boiling method.
This is because the water sprinkled on the tissue will turn into steam and compressed inside the rice cooker to cook the eggs. You can peel the egg shells off very easily.
The egg yolks will turn out just nice, not too dry.
And the best part is -you don't have to do any washing nor cleaning at all.

Lady Finger (Bhindi ) is " OKRA ".

Here another interesting natural remedies from some of my friend who send to me by email. Its said that Lady fingers is a treatment for Diabetes. However, I do believe that God have a very good reason why we are given vegetables and plants in this planet, not only just for food purposes but for curing dieases as well.

Take two pieces of Lady Finger (Bhindi) and remove/cut both ends of eachpiece. Also put a small cut in the middle and put these two pieces inglass of water. Cover the glass and keep it at room temperature duringnight. Early morning, before breakfast simply remove two pieces of ladyfinger (bhindi) from the glass and drink that water.
Keep doing it on daily basis.
Within two weeks, you will see remarkable results in reduction of your SUGAR.
You can also chops, adds the water and drinks it all up the next morning.
Please try it as it will not do you any harm even if it does not do much good to you, but you have to keep taking it for a few months before you see results, as most cases might be chronic.

2009 Activities Planning

Time flies, once again, it's the wonderful time of the year when everyone is busy scheduling their annual leaves and going on vacation. Sadly..this is not the case for me. This time of the year is definitely not my holiday season. I have been crunching figures in my office for the past few weeks doing my 2009 annual operating plan. Look, I ain't an accountant, but the whole world is chasing for my figures. As if their failure and success lies in those numbers. Sigh..

In fact, the target setting task is pretty simple. Well, not that I love to boast. Honestly I am very good in Excel (format and formula setting only ma..).. if only the top guns can make up their minds at once.

When comes to target setting, it's always top-down(well..who doesn't know..). More often than not, it can be a headache turned migraine when a bunch of fickle-minded heads enjoy playing you around with their so-called foresight. I believe all top management people have since developed physic power, they can foretell...God knows!

Even a non-MBA can tell you that target setting is not a matter of plucking numbers from the sky but rather to set an achievable number in sync with the capacity planning. However, this is always not the case for some companies , at least for those that i worked with. I think this has become a chronic illness for most corporations 0f which their top level people have never failed to come out with a target that is totally absurd and meant for the insanity. Perhaps, targets are meant to fail and not meant to be achieved!

Well..so much about the bitter part of my working life. Anyway, the moment when I walked out from office, I have never brought this migraine back home with me. Life goes on like usual day in and day out and I always love to make sure that I have a mix of non-working related and soul-fulfilling activities to fill up the blanks of my daily life. This is what they called practicing work-life balance. Though I do have a few nights startled in the middle of dream out of sheer mental excitement ."Bingo! I hit the figure!" (dreamed about work) "Rock forward to the left and cha cha cha(line dancing steps....Hahaha!)

Oh..i nearly forgot the subject of this article is not about my office activities planning (too bad, got carried away with the intro). Actually, the main objective for me putting this subject title is to be in tune with the spirit of this year-end joy. I thought of giving a piece of my mind to the suggestion board for our next year activities planning. Below is the 2009 activities planner for your considerations:

Jan-09 Linedance party

Feb-09 CNY get-together (Pot Luck cum line dancing party at SRI MURNI)

Mar-09 Visitation to homes (in conjunction of CNY,
can rejoice with the kids or old folks)

Apr-09 Short day trip/jalan-jalan cari makan

May / Celebrating
our line dance instructor's birthday..
June-09 (Excuse me, is Joyce's birthday somewhere around this time?)

July-09 Linedance party

August / Hungry Ghost/Mooncake festival potluck
Sept-09

Oct-09 Another trip (Overseas trip?)

Nov/
Linedance party/Visitation to homes
Dec-09 (rejoice for Christmas or "Dong" festival)

I believe the above list is non-exhaustive. Well..a plan is always a plan. To materialize it, again, allow me to stress that it all depends on our individual and group capacity (I got study management one lar...)

Open for discussion, better plan than not plan at all, right?

Cheers!

EYES FLOATERS "Fei Man Cheng"

I have eyes floaters a year ago which I have no idea what it means. "Fei Man Chang" (direct translation mean that you see fly in your eyes)

At first, it was disturbing and annoying to see the spider webs, dark dots, lines or particles floating in the eyes but now I have got use to it. I was so concern and worrying about such sudden happening, so I went to see the eye specialist. The eyes specialist said its because I am getting old and my eye follow to down graded. He told me nothing can be done about it and I have live my life with it!

Well, of course its better to take care of your eyes before anything worse happen further. I am very disappointed that now a days youngster do not realize that they are spoiling their eyes playing computer games and most of them wear glasses at a very young age.

For further explanation of the eyes floaters, I have copied it from the website for your convenient.

What are floaters?
Floaters retain this name due to the fact that many people notice dark dots, lines or particles in their vision that move around as though floating in the eye. Floaters cast shadows on the retina, the light-sensitive tissue lining the back of the eye. The retina then sends visual signals to the brain, resulting in an image.

Floaters come and go with eye movements, such as blinking. They follow eye movements, but lag behind and float to a halt a few seconds after the eyes stop moving. These images are most obviously appear when looking at a bright, uniform field of vision, such as a white wall or a clear sky. People may experience one or several floaters in one eye or both. Floaters are not the same as the spots you see after looking at intense light such as from a flashbulb.

Who gets floaters?
Most people see floaters some time during their lives. Many individuals in their teens and 20s notice some floaters, and people who are nearsighted may have floaters at a younger age. Floaters become more frequent as a person ages.
What causes floaters?
The majority of floaters are due to normal degenerative changes in the vitreous, the jelly-like floaters because of a retinal tear without a detachment, the tear usually can be treated with minor surgical procedures that can effectively prevent a retinal detachment.

Patients whose floaters are due to bleeding from the abnormal growth of blood vessels can suffer one or more hemorrhages inside the eye that may severely affect vision. Furthermore, abnormal blood vessel growth often leads to scar tissue that tends to shrink. This shrinkage can cause wrinkling, dragging, distortion, detachment and/or tearing of the retina. Minor surgical procedures usually can prevent these problems if diagnosed early. If these problems become advanced, major eye surgery may be needed to prevent blindness. However, as with retinal tears, surgery often is unable to completely reverse the damage caused by scar tissue.

There are no medications available that are effective in treating most floaters. Patients with floaters due to inflammatory eye diseases may be helped by medicines to treat the inflammation; however, the floaters may remain after the treatment. Although floaters can be bothersome, most people learn to ignore them.

Are flashes of light related to floaters?
Many patients suffer from both floaters and light flashes. Light flashes refer to the false sensation that light is flashing into the eye. Light flashes are bright and of very short duration. They usually are shaped like a line or an arc and may appear to shoot in a certain direction. Light flashes seem to occur in the side of the field of vision and can be seen even when the eyes are closed. Some of the same conditions that cause floaters also cause light flashes. These include the vitreous tugging on the retina or buildup of scar tissue in the eye.

What should I do if I have floaters?
Those who have had floaters a long time without much change recently should have an eye examination when convenient. However, certain symptoms are cause for immediate concern. Someone who has developed floaters for the first time or is certain their floaters have become worse or more numerous may have a new, potentially serious problem. A person who suddenly notices a large number of floaters, often like a shower of them, may have bleeding in the eye.

Other people may notice new floaters along with a cloudy area in the side field of vision in one eye. Often people describe this as a ‘curtain’ closing on part of their vision. This may indicate that a retinal detachment is developing from a retinal tear. People with any of these symptoms should see an ophthalmologist right away. The evaluation of floaters should include examination of the retina and vitreous through dilated pupils, usually with gentle pressure to the eye to bring into view areas that are difficult to see. Early diagnosis and treatment may prevent serious problems and may improve the chance for preserving vision.

ITS A HALLOWEEN SEASON

Friends, since its a Halloween season, I have one true story to tell.

I remembered very clearly on that incident, its was an eerie and unhappy day for me.

I was in a hospital after I lost my second pregnancy. Everytime, I enter any hospital, I will feel uneasy. Anyway, I was the only one in that hospital room that night and I really couldn't sleep. I have requested the Doctor to give me some sleeping pills early cause I will know that I will need it later. After twisting and turning for a few times and it was way 12am, I decided to take the sleeping pills.

However, after taking the sleeping pill I still unable to doze off. Anyway, mabye after 2 to 3hours later I was still half awake and half asleep. There was this man figure slipping in and out the door and trying to come near my bed. I really can feel it was not human at all but I was a bit scare that the figure will come too close to me and suddenly I remembered the Kuan Yin mantra. I say my prayers and the man figure disappear immediately and I feel very calm and fall into deep sleep.

The next morning, I asked my husband whether he have come visit me in the middle of the night or not. And his answer was, are you mad ! of COURSE NOT!
