As discussed last Sunday, we will commence our line dance refresher training and practice sessions in a different manner.
This serves as a memorandum on what have been proposed and agreed upon:-
We will have our refresher training(walkthrough) and line dance practice sessions on every Saturday and Sunday effectively from first week of July 09 onwards
Below briefly described the difference between refresher training and practice sessions and the manner those sessions will be conducted:-
A. Refresher Trainings
- One of the BRP Linedance Club members will be nominated to take on the lead role for a particular dance title (Herein refers to as the “Dance Lead”). The Dance Lead will have to memorize and master the entire dance without difficulty.
- Dance Leads may refers to Line Dance Walkthrough* for dances taught by our instructor Joyce http://brp-walkthrough.blogspot.com/
*Exclusive for members only - He/She will re-teach and walk through the steps with members during the allocated refresher training sessions.
- There will be 2 refresher training sessions per week. The refresher training session on every Saturdays will start from 8-9.15pm. As for Sunday, 9.30 – 10.45 am
- There will be 5 dances taught in each sessions. For effective time management, Dance Lead should watch the time and limit the duration for the walkthru to max 15 min per dance.
- The dance list scheduled for July 09 have been prepared as follows subject to consent and availability of the nominated Dance Leads.
B. Practice Sessions
- The session allows team member to repeat doing the dances taught in the previous Refresher Training sessions/previous week line dance lesson.
- Due to time constraint, there will be no walkthrough or a brief walkthrough upon request by team members.
- Members are encouraged to practice only on difficult dances such as the ones with 64 steps, tags and restarts.
- There will be 2 practice sessions each week. The practice sessions will commence from 9.20-10.00pm and 7.00-7.30am on every Saturday and Sunday respectively.
Objectives of The Proposal
- To accelerate and boost retention in learning for all BRP line dance member to master at least 20 dances a month.
- To make the learning of line dance much easier and fun.
- To increase interest and enthusiasm in line dancing by all BRP members in order to retain an optimum size of 20 members at all times.
- To provide opportunities for self-development and pave the path for every members to become the future line dance instructors.
Nomination of Dance Leads
- Each and every member are encouraged to partake in leading at least one of the dances taught by our instructor.
- The more skillful members are encouraged to take the role of a Dance Lead to teach the dances on voluntarily basis.
- The pioneer batch members such as Janice, Rui Ting and Ya Mei are encouraged to teach the "older" dances for benefits of all new comers.
- For contingency purpose, it is encouraged to have 2 Dance Leads for each dance title learnt.
- Nomination for Dance Leads for future new dances will be determined after each lesson. Again, members are encouraged to self-nominate on voluntarily basis.
Selection of Dance Title
- The selection of dance titles for refresher training will be jointly decided by Cheryl and Yin Chan. Both of them are to ensure that new list is prepared before the month-end review session.
- However, the decision on the selection can be overruled by the team during the review sessions.
- The dance titles may be changed without prior notice subject to availability of the Dance Leads.
- Dances which have been walkthru may be repeated in preparing the members for any line dance functions or parties.
Confidence Booster Video Shooting
- Dance leads are encouraged to perform solo and agree to be videoed during the walkthrough sessions.
- Christina will be responsible for the video-shooting but that does not exclude her from taking the role of a Dance Lead for future sessions.
- The walkthrough videos will be posted into our private blog for members’ reference only.
- Members who could not attend the refresher training sessions for whatsoever reason may refer to the blog and do self-practice.
Monthly Review Sessions
- A review session will be done during the last line dance lesson of each month.
- During the review session, members will sit together to discuss on areas that can be improved, to provide constructive feedback and to propose dances to be taught in the coming months.
- Dances that have been walked through can also be repeated with respect to the difficulty level or upon request from members.
- The dance lead for the newly proposed dance titles will also be nominated during the review sessions.
